January 2024 Group Call

Hi Killers Keynoters,

Monday, we began to dive into the crucial aspect of crafting exceptional content for your keynotes. Now, let’s bridge that with another vital component: the learning objectives of your presentation. When I am coaching a speaker with writing a new keynote, I always like to start at the end…getting clear on the learning objectives of their program.

UNDERSTANDING LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Learning objectives are specific, measurable outcomes that you intend your audience to achieve by the end of your keynote. They are the backbone of your presentation, guiding both your content creation and your audience’s journey. Learning Objectives- sometimes called Outcomes are on every RFF (request for proposal). Learn how to connect your content to your learning objectives and you will get more bookings.

WHY ARE LEARNING OBJECTIVES ESSENTIAL?

  • Clarity and Direction of your Message: Clearly defined objectives provide a roadmap for your presentation, ensuring every element of your content contributes towards these goals and your overall message.
  • Audience Engagement: Tell them upfront in your opener your intentions, When your audience understands the objectives from the outset, they are more likely to engage with the content, as they know what to expect and what they will gain.
  • Effective Marketing: Including learning objectives in your marketing materials offers potential clients a transparent view of what your keynote offers. This clarity helps them understand how your talk aligns with their group’s needs, increasing your chances of being booked.

HOW TO CONNECT YOUR CONTENT WITH LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Start with the End in Mind: Identify what you want your audience to learn or how you want them to feel by the end of your session. These outcomes should shape your entire presentation.
  • Make Objectives Specific and Measurable: Vague objectives like “improve leadership skills” are less impactful than specific ones like “learn three strategies to enhance team communication.”
  • Reflect Objectives in Your Content: Ensure that every part of your presentation- stories, data, activities – directly contributes to achieving your learning objectives.
  • Communicate Objectives Effectively: Articulate your objectives clearly in your marketing. Honestly, this is what the buyer is searching for and will help get you booked. Think of your learning objectives as end results you are selling.

CONCLUSION

By aligning your outstanding content with clear learning objectives, you not only create a more impactful and memorable keynote but also enhance your marketability.

Remember, when potential clients see the direct benefits and outcomes of your presentation, they are more likely to see the value you bring to their group, leading to more bookings for you.

We will go into this more on our next Zoom call or if you want, we can work on this if you book a slot in the office hours.

Until next time!
